When my daughter was born, the world of breastfeeding opened up in front of me. It was exciting and beautiful, but also one that I was not well prepared for. I had taken classes to prepare me for birth, but breastfeeding classes were not on my radar. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing you could do for your baby, how hard could it be? Well, I had no idea what to do when I ran into horrible engorgement, nipple cracking, mastitis, overactive letdown, and the list goes on. Thankfully, I found the help I desperately needed at a Lactation Clinic at the hospital I gave birth at.
What I have learned from each one of my babies is that every nursing relationship is different and holds its own individual challenges. From jaundice to NICU to clogged ducts, each one has taught me that mothers are resilient, but can also feel so alone in this journey. I do not want that for you. My goal is for you to be confident in your goals, confident in yourself, and confident that you are providing the best for your baby.
I became a Lactation Counselor and am pursuing becoming an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant to help families navigate these waters. It is my mission to provide affordable, accessible, and evidence-based breastfeeding support for you at every step of your journey. While breastfeeding may be instinctual for babies, it is a learned skill for us. I hope I get the opportunity to support you and your breastfeeding journey.
